Description
The word Chesterfield was originally used to refer to any couch. A chesterfield now describes a deep buttoned sofa, usually made from leather, with arms and back of the same height. The first chesterfield, with its distinctive deep buttoned, quilted leather upholstery and lower seat base, was commissioned by Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield (1694–1773).
This super example sits on castors, making it easy to move around. It’s in super preloved condition, structurally sound and very comfortable with nothing broken or missing. As you’d expect, shows some signs of age and use, including rather attractive areas of wear to the arms that add to its appeal.
