Description
This is a very stylish vintage sideboard with beautiful grain patterns to the wood. Made by renowned mid century maker, Jentique, in the 1960s, this sideboard has a bank of three drawers. To the left of the drawers is a capacious, shelved double cupboard. The pierced door handles and drawers pulls are a design highlight of this credenza. An excellent piece of MCM furniture, this compact teak sideboard is perfect for any modern living space.
Jentique Furniture was a mid-century English firm that followed the Danish-design taste of the times. Before founding Jentique, Geoffrey Jenkins was well known as a toymaker. In 1932, he designed a water driven hydraulic toothbrush. It was destined for failure. While the “Kavor” toothbrush didn’t find a market, Jenkins did succeed with a well manufactured gramophone. It was the gramophone that led him to focus on furniture-making under the name Jentique Furniture. During the late 1950s and 60s Jentique specialised in modern, contemporary furniture. It capitalised on the trend toward clean Danish lines. Today, Jentique furniture from the mid century retro period has become prized for its elegant proportions, attractive design and excellent build quality.
Structurally sound and in nice original condition. With, as you’d expect, some signs of age and use, including wear around some of the handles (see photos). Still a very attractive piece of mid century modern furniture and we’ve modified the price to reflect the wear.
