Description
This is a sleek and elegant Danish sideboard with stunning teak grain patterns. Clean lines are a key attribute of this piece, a hallmark of quality Scandinavian credenzas. This is a stunning piece of mid century furniture which truly embraces the modernist ideology: form follows function. Sliding doors and tapering legs mark this out as a fine piece of cabinetry that would sit well in any contemporary setting. The unit is crafted from highly grained teak and includes 2 height-adjustable, removable shelves. A perfect media unit for television or hi-fi, this sideboard would also work as a fantastic little drinks cabinet.
Danish furniture designer/maker Poul Hundevad trained as a carpenter before establishing his own cabinetmaking shop and furniture factory, Hundevad & Co., at the beginning of the 1950s in his hometown of Vamdrup. The company produced many of the founder’s own designs, alongside the designs of other Danish designers including Carlo Jensen.
Structurally sound, and we’ve had the exterior of the cabinet refinished by a professional restorer. Largely unnoticeable unless pointed out but there are 2 little filled areas towards the rear on the top of the sideboard. See photo for an image of one of these.
