Description
This is a beautiful Danish dining table, designed and manufactured in Denmark by Ansager Mobler. This super piece of vintage furniture features two additional leaves and a stunning sculptural pedestal base. The top itself has an attractive teak wood grain. The table can be extended in two stages, allowing 3 different lengths to be set. Pedestal dining tables are particularly attractive as they remove the ‘clash’ between chars and table legs on more traditionally designed dining tables. A super piece of quality Danish mid century furniture.
Founded in 1922, Ansager’s designs were conceived by the owners and the craftsmen in their workshop, inspired by tradition and market trends. Ansager were renowned for craftsmanship and their knowledge of woodworking skills. They had a fine reputation and family ownership for 3 generations ensured consistent quality pieces.
In the 50s-70s Ansager benefitted from the international popularity of Danish design and exported globally, mostly dinning furniture. From the mid 70s their decline started due to lessening interest in Danish and mid century design and growing customer acceptance of mass-produced factory furniture. Ansager closed in 2013.
Structurally sound and the table top is in super condition as we’ve had it refinished by a professional furniture restorer.
