A rare chance to own a highly desirable piece of mid century design. This little sewing table is beautifully made and can be used for a variety of purposes. A drawer has been hidden away under the top surface, in which an original pin cushion is still present. Under the top is a woven wicker basket, originally intended for storing wool, which can easily be slid out, and removed, from either side of the table. This sewing table is, of course, not only for sewing supplies. It can also be used as a side table or occasional table, with plenty storage space in the wicker basket below.

Danish furniture designer Severin Hansen Jr. is best remembered for his table and desk designs in the classic, Danish midcentury modern style. In the 1950s and early ’60s, his work was produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, a furniture manufacturer located in the small town of Haslev, close to Copenhagen. Haslev produced exquisite and functional pieces. They took everyday items and transformed them into things of beauty, such as this gorgeous sewing table. Though little is known about Hansen’s life, his designs are increasingly popular among vintage lovers, who hold him in high esteem for his high quality craftsmanship and materials. Hansen’s dining tables, nesting tables, coffee tables, and sewing tables were produced in rosewood and mahogany, with only a small number made from teak. Minimalist in detail, they are characterized by angular silhouettes and tapered legs.
