  • Description

This is a truly stunning Danish sideboard, designed by Bernhard Pedersen and manufactured in Denmark in the 1960s. One of the big attractions of this impressive credenza are it's sliding doors, that remove the need to swing large doors out the way and into your room space. Behind these wonderful doors sits a bank of tray-style drawers to the left. Two of the drawers are lined with green felt and all three of the drawers slide out completely and can be used as trays. To the centre and right hand side are cupboard spaces with height-adjustable / removable shelving.

Bernhard Pedersen & Son is a family owned furniture maker, still trading today, with a strong tradition in high quality cabinetmaking since the company’s start in 1902. The 1950s and '60s were characterized by some of the most stunning and well-executed pieces in Bernhard Pedersen & Son’s history. During this period, and still to this day, the classic mid-century dining tables and sideboards designed by Danish furniture designers, including the world-renowned architect Johannes Andersen, were highly valued by BPS customers throughout the world.

This sensational sideboard has been refinished to a high standard by a professional furniture restorer. Two things to mention (see photos). Firstly, a little break to the lower part of the back panel, that's hidden away at the rear of the central cupboard space, so pretty much unseen. Secondly, you may not notice this unless we highlighted it but there's a little repair to the top left of the left hand central door. Again, it's in a very unnoticeable position. Otherwise, a stunning piece of quality Danish furniture, and these points don't detract from its presence and beauty.
