Description
This is a beautiful Danish dining table, designed by Bernhard Pedersen and manufactured in Denmark in the 1960s. This elegant table features two large leaves, stored underneath the table top, that slide out and allow the table to be easily extended to accommodate extra diners. This clever design makes the table more aesthetically pleasing as, when it is unextended, there is no break across the table’s middle where traditionally the two halves of table would meet. The top has a beautiful wood grain above the tapered legs. The table can be extended in two stages, allowing 3 different lengths to be set.
Bernhard Pedersen & Son is a family owned furniture maker, still trading today, with a strong tradition in high quality cabinetmaking since the company’s start in 1902. The 1950s and ’60s were characterized by some of the most stunning and well-executed pieces in Bernhard Pedersen & Son’s history. During this period, and still to this day, the classic mid-century dining tables and sideboards designed by Danish furniture designers, including the world-renowned architect Johannes Andersen, were highly valued by BPS customers throughout the world.
