Description
This is a truly stunning high-end dining table and chairs in beautiful teak, designed by Robert Heritage for revered London maker Archie Shine in the 1960s. A superb vintage dining suite consisting of an extending dining table, in teak, and six matching dining chairs. The leaf can be stored under the table top when not in use. The top pieces of the table simply glide apart to reveal the extra leaf, which can then be easily lifted into position. Also, take a look at the little rebate that runs around the edge of the table top – another eye-catching detail of this beautiful piece of mid century furniture.
Robert Heritage designed furniture for a number of British makers in the 1950s, 60s and 70s but is best known for his work for the top quality London maker Archie Shine. Archie Shine furniture was retailed by Heals and a few independent up-market provincial retailers. Robert Heritage was also an influential Professor of Furniture at the Royal College of Art from 1974-1985 .
Condition is super as we’ve had the table top refinished to a high standard by a professional furniture restorer. So only very minor signs of age and use. All pieces are structurally sound and the fabric is in great condition, the chairs having been recently recovered.
