Description
A stylish and unusual piece of vintage furniture that could be used as a small sideboard, dressing chest, hall table or TV stand. Finished in teak and made by the renowned mid century maker, Avalon, in the 1960s, it has 5 useful drawers and sits on tall, elegant legs.
The furniture manufacturer Avalon, a British company based in the town of Yatton, Somerset, also made furniture under the names of Wake & Dean and Yatton Furniture. In times past, most of the inhabitants of Yatton would have been employed in agriculture. At the time of the Industrial Revolution a furniture factory was established, initially manufacturing church pews and school desks. The successor to this company, Avalon Furniture, produced stylish and popular ‘modern’ furniture during the mid century period and traded successfully for decades, finally closing in 1985.
A vintage sideboard in nice original condition with signs of age and use. One of the rear legs doesn’t sit quite straight so there is a little bit of ‘play’ present. Sideboard sits stable and solid though when placed against a wall. Great value price to reflect this!
