Description
A stylish vintage sideboard, finished in teak and made by renowned mid century maker, Avalon, in the 1960s. This classic sideboard has three drawers set between two cupboards, one single and one double. An excellent piece of retro furniture, this is a very neat sideboard, perfect for any modern living space.
The furniture manufacturer Avalon, a British company based in the town of Yatton, Somerset, also made furniture under the names of Wake & Dean and Yatton Furniture. In times past, most of the inhabitants of Yatton would have been employed in agriculture. At the time of the Industrial Revolution a furniture factory was established, initially manufacturing church pews and school desks. The successor to this company, Avalon Furniture, produced stylish and popular ‘modern’ furniture during the mid century period and traded successfully for decades, finally closing in 1985.
