Description
An amazing high-end 1960s rosewood sideboard. Very possibly by one of the great British mid century designers, Robert Heritage, for the revered London maker Archie Shine. This stylish sideboard has a bank of five drawers to the left, the top two drawers with felt lined cutlery dividers in place. To the right of the drawers sits a larger cupboard space with removeable shelf. To the far right, you’ll find a drinks cabinet with removable bottle holder. The brass handles and stunning grain patterns are highlights of this vintage sideboard.
Robert Heritage designed furniture for a number of British makers in the 1950s, 60s and 70s but is best known for his work for the top quality London maker Archie Shine. Archie Shine furniture was retailed by Heals and a few independent up-market provincial retailers. Robert Heritage was also an influential Professor of Furniture at the Royal College of Art from 1974-1985 .
Structurally sound and in very nice original, unrestored condition with, as you’d expect, some signs of age and use.
