Description
Designed by John and Sylvia Reid and manufactured in England in the 1960s, this is a stylish compact sideboard or chest of drawers. A striking example of British mid century design, this oak chest of drawers from the Concord range epitomizes the timeless utility of modernist design. Rarely available, these drawers are a stunning piece of vintage furniture.
John and Sylvia Reid were both working architects, and gained valuable experience working for influential British designer Robin Day and Hille in the early 1950s. They were asked to design a range of furniture for Stag, and fostered a 10-year partnership between 1952 and 1962 with the manufacturer. Taking inspiration from the prevailing Scandinavian designers of the time, and drawing on their architectural background, John and Sylvia were among the pioneers of British Mid Century Modern furniture.
Structurally sound, in nice original condition and ready for use in your home with, as you’d expect, some signs of age and use.
