Description
A rare and super stylish vintage laptop desk or dressing table, designed by John and Sylvia Reid and manufactured in England in the 1960s. Finished in honeyed birch veneer, with satinised, steel lip handles and sitting on original metal legs. This range was only produced for a short period between 1961 & 1962. Rarely available, this item is a stunning piece of vintage furniture.
John and Sylvia Reid were both working architects, and gained valuable experience working for influential British designer Robin Day and Hille in the early 1950s. They were asked to design a range of furniture for Stag, and fostered a 10-year partnership between 1952 and 1962 with the manufacturer. Taking inspiration from the prevailing Scandinavian designers of the time, and drawing on their architectural background, John and Sylvia were among the pioneers of British Mid Century Modern furniture.
In super vintage condition and ready for use in your home with, as you’d expect, some small signs of age and use. Hardly seen due to its location there is a little historic repair (see photo) to bottom rear of right hand end panel.
