Description
This sweet little piece of vintage furniture by Avalon looks great from all angles and has an array of storage options on a small footprint. A quality piece of vintage cabinetry with 2 sliding glass doors, 2 drawers and a height adjustable shelf. The top left cupboard space provides a little writing surface when opened, with pigeon hole storage within. Would make a super hall cabinet, drinks cabinet or bookcase.
The furniture manufacturer Avalon, a British company based in the town of Yatton, Somerset, also made furniture under the names of Wake & Dean and Yatton Furniture. In times past, most of the inhabitants of Yatton would have been employed in agriculture. At the time of the Industrial Revolution a furniture factory was established, initially manufacturing church pews and school desks. The successor to this company, Avalon Furniture, produced stylish and popular ‘modern’ furniture during the mid century period and traded successfully for decades, finally closing in 1985.
Structurally sound and in very nice original condition with, as you’d expect, some signs of age and use.
