Description
This stunning teak desk is an elegant offering from one of Denmark’s finest furniture makers. This secretaire was designed in the 1960s by Arne Wahl Iversen for the Danish maker Vinde. Crafted from fine cuts of teak with stunning grain detailing and dovetail carpentry throughout. This bureau is a premium piece, stamped with the danish control logo, ensuring only the finest materials were used in its production. Look closely at the angle of the shelves and drawers within the upper cabinet. Also, the aesthetically pleasing shaping of the drawer pulls. An incredibly stylish and practical item with plenty of storage space which would complement any design-led interior.
Danish architect-designer Arne Wahl Iversen can be counted among a significant number of midcentury modern Scandinavian designers whose works are experiencing a surge in popularity in the 21st century. Wahl Iversen was a prolific designer active throughout the 1950s and 1960s. His designs were produced by a wide variety of small and large Danish manufacturers, including Vinde Møbelfabrik, Jørgensen & Nissen and Hans Hansen. Wahl Iversen’s earliest designs were produced by Hans Hansen from circa 1954. His portfolio expanded from seating to encompass a wide range of furniture, such as secretaires, dining tables, drinks cabinets, desks, and dressing tables.
Please note that the bureau key is present but its teeth have broken off at some point so the desk no longer locks.
