Description
This super glazed bookcase was designed by Malcolm Walker and manufactured, in the 1960s, by Dalescraft. This stylish piece can be employed as a bookcase, drinks cabinet, hall cabinet or as a miniature sideboard. The shelves within the glazed cabinet are both height adjustable / removeable. A good-looking and practical piece of vintage furniture.
Dalescraft were a fairly small maker, working from Pudsey in Leeds, that were big on quality. Designed for Dalescraft’s Hayworth collection, this piece has an obvious Scandinavian design influence, typical of the mid-century period. The shaping to the frame upon which the table top sits being the clearest example of this influence. The table top, too, has a lovely shape to it, tapering gently towards each end of the table.
This piece is stylish, strong and structurally sound. We’ve cleaned and oiled the cabinet and had the top surface refinished by a professional restorer.
