Description
This is an iconic mid century ‘Double Helix’ Sideboard designed by David Booth for Gordon Russel circa 1950. Finished in mahogany with rosewood veneered doors and a routed Helix design, this piece was displayed at the Festival of Britain in 1951. Behind those beautifully finished doors, the cabinet within is shelved and has a recessed area for storing taller items (Bottles perhaps?). There is also a handy little drawer that is divided up, making it perfect for storing cutlery … or cocktail stirrers!
The name Gordon Russell is pretty legendary amongst mid century furniture enthusiasts. The firm was at the forefront of UK furniture design during this period and became particularly well known for providing very high end furniture for the boardrooms and executive offices of major companies.
Condition is very nice as we’ve had the top, front and sides refinished to a high standard by a professional furniture restorer.
