Description
A stunning 1960s double pedestal executive desk by Robin Day for Hille of London. This super vintage desk has two banks of 4 drawers with a floating top that extends to the rear. With black vinyl covering part of the desktop, this is a stunning and rare piece of vintage furniture, raised on black painted metal legs and supports.
The Hille furniture company was started in the East End of London in 1906 by Salamon Hille. Hille’s most famous designer was, of course, Robin Day. From the very outset Day was given carte blanche to design whatever he wanted and to have prototypes built. Day is most famously remembered for his best selling product, the Polypropylene chair, the first of which was the polyside chair in 1963.
This super vintage desk is structurally sound and in nice used condition. As you’d expect, it comes with signs of age and use.
The top right hand drawer locks and key present. Chair not included. The desk can be disassembled if required.
